I’m an actor because I’m a storyteller and have been for as long as I can remember. I love to tell stories, and at the moment the best way I know how to do that is through portraying a character within a story. I love to tell stories because of all the reasons we need to hear them-to be entertained, to be enlightened, to be made to think in order to learn and grow. We need stories in order to make us feel and empathize with ourselves and others, and ultimately, I believe, to connect with our common humanity.
My hope is that by bringing stories to life, by “holding the mirror up to nature,” my audiences, be they one person or many, will be able to reflect on their own lives and by doing so will recognize, understand and utilize their own power. Perhaps for the purpose of taking action in order to improve their lives, improve the lives of their loved ones, maybe even help to make the world a better place to be. Or perhaps simply to forgive or to reflect and recognize our own growth.
That, to me, is to love.
I can’t imagine a higher calling than that, and that is why I love to do what I do and will always love to be a storyteller.
